Anthony Gormley’s Angel of the North, Gateshead, England

Angel of the North by Anthony Gormley

Angel of the North by Anthony Gormley

Took this shot in Gateshead earlier this week.  The statue is by the A1 overlooking the valley into Newcastle. Although controversial at the time, the statue has proved a undoubted success in attracting people to the area.

  1. Whilst taking our daughter to edinburgh uni (from sydney aus) we passed the angel. I thought she would be off the tourist track so my surprise at finding her her so close to the highway was pleasing indeed it gave myself and others travellers on various pilgramages ,be they daily or once in a lifetime a moment to reflect and was truly appreciated. Thank you to the men and the ladies who had a last glimpse of england never to return the same again.
Many amazing images have been captured of her and all have relevance again i thank you
