Bridge of Sighs, Venice

In Venice, the Bridge of Sighs is one the most famous landmarks. The name comes from the fact that prisoners were taken from the Doge’s Palace to the prison over this bridge. The prisoners could apparently be heard ‘sighing’ as they made their way.  More Black and White Photography from Venice can be found here.
